  • Speak Tech Club

Speak Tech Club is a dynamic forum where technology meets advocacy, communication, and global citizenship. We explore the intersection of cutting-edge tech and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), empowering members to articulate, debate, and demystify how technology can be a force for good in solving the world's greatest challenges. It's less about building the tech itself (though understanding it is key) and more about understanding its impact, ethics, and potential, and communicating that effectively to diverse audiences.

Objectives

  • Awareness & Literacy Objective - To critically analyze emerging technologies through the lens of specific SDGs. Seminar discussions on how AI impacts SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) - does it bridge gaps or widen them? Deep dives into block chain for SDG 16 (Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions) via transparent supply chains.
  • Demystification & Advocacy Objective - To translate complex tech concepts into clear, compelling narratives for public understanding and advocacy.-Creating "explainer" videos or infographics on topics like "Smart Agriculture (SDG 2) & IoT." Writing policy briefs or op-eds on "Data Privacy as a Human Right (linking to SDG 16)."
  • Critical Thinking & Foresight Objective - To debate the ethical dilemmas and future scenarios of tech-driven solutions. Oxford-style debates: "This house believes that carbon capture technology is a dangerous distraction from systemic change for SDG 13 (Climate Action)." Scenario planning workshops on the future of work (SDG 8) with AI.
  • Bridge - Building & Interdisciplinary Objective - To connect tech discussions with policy, economics, sociology, and ethics. Hosting guest speakers: a social entrepreneur using apps for SDG 3 (Health), a lawyer specializing in digital rights (SDG 16), an urban planner using AI for SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities).
