Biotechnology is a field of applied branch of Biology. The post graduate programme provides students with subject specific knowledge and practical skills with the intention that the skills and knowledge help the students in professional employment or doctoral studies in the different areas of Biotechnology. The thrust areas of Biotechnology include Molecular Biology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Genetic Engineering, Bioinformatics etc. Today, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics are a great help to traditional sciences, refreshing them with new methods of research and thus, help them remain competitive in the scientific world.
The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Biotechnology at Shri Guru Ram Rai University is a two-year postgraduate programme designed to provide advanced knowledge, technical expertise, and research skills in modern biological sciences. The programme integrates fundamental concepts of molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, and genetic engineering with emerging applications in healthcare, agriculture, environmental sustainability, and industrial biotechnology. The curriculum is structured to develop scientific aptitude, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities through a balanced blend of classroom instruction, laboratory training, research projects, and dissertation work. The programme emphasizes experiential learning through hands-on training in advanced molecular techniques, genomics, recombinant DNA technology, microbial biotechnology, plant biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, and bioinformatics.
