Course Overview

The chemistry department fosters innovation with robust lab facilities and knowledgeable supervision by providing advanced research opportunities in a variety of fields, including organic, inorganic, analytical, corrosion, pharmaceutical and environmental chemistry. The program places a strong emphasis on autonomous research, multidisciplinary projects, and professional preparation in fields including materials science and pharmaceuticals. Admission is determined by university tests or national exams (NET/GATE), followed by interviews. Passing Pre-PhD course work is compulsory. Every candidate is required to publish a minimum of two papers in Scopus-indexed journals and present two papers at seminars or conferences prior to thesis submission.

Post Graduate Degree in Master with at least 55% marks or with an equivalent Grade Point average (GPA). Relaxation of 5% marks to SC/ST/OBC (non –creamy layer) differently-abled categories applicant.

Q.1 How are UG & PG Programmes designed?

Choice Based Credit System with continuous evaluation is followed in the semester pattern.

Q.2 At the time of counseling, is it enough if I produce photocopies of my certificates?

No. Original certificates must be produced at the time of counseling.

Q.3 Is there an entrance exam for PG Programmes?

No. Admission is based on the marks secured in graduation and the counseling conducted on the university campus.

Q.4 When do admissions open?

Admissions generally open during May–June.

Q.5 Are hostel facilities available for all students?

Hostel facilities are available for female students coming from outside the region on a sharing basis (three students per room). Accommodation is not available for family members, spouses, or children of married students.

Q.6 What is the teacher–student ratio at SGRRU?

The current teacher–student ratio at SGRRU is approximately 1:6.

Q.7 Can I get campus jobs?

A limited number of campus jobs are available under the Work–Earn Programme. Students can apply for these jobs on a monthly basis after joining the university.

Q.8 Does SGRRU offer online/distance learning programmes?

No. All Master's and Research programmes are regular programmes and do not permit students to undertake full-time or part-time employment simultaneously.

Q.9 Is SGRR University affiliated with any other university for degree recognition?

No. As an independent university, SGRR University is not affiliated with any other university. The university is recognized by the Government of Uttarakhand, and all courses offered are duly recognized.

Q.10 At the time of counseling, is the presence of the candidate compulsory?

Yes. The candidate must be present at the counseling desk along with a parent or guardian.
