I am humbled to join Shri Guru Ram Rai University (SGRRU) as its vice chancellor. I express my profound gratitude to the SGRRU community for working as a team to ensure that it becomes a leading, innovative, entrepreneurial, and technologically-driven, world-class university. The university today holds the torch of illumination, giving shape to ideas and promoting innovation. SGRRU envisions itself as an institution of global standing that fosters development of professionally competent talent that contributes to nation-building. We are committed to providing an exceptional academic experience that will challenge and inspire students to reach their full potential. We pride ourselves in providing world-class education that is affordable and accessible, and an environment that fosters academic and personal growth. We offer a range of financial aid programs, scholarships, and grants to support our students.

SGRRU made a modest beginning in the year 1952 by the parent body of Shri Guru Rai Darbar Sahib. Since its inception 70 years ago, it has worked tirelessly to bring to life its founder’s core philosophy: ‘to deliver education and health care for the betterment of mankind.’ One man’s vision led to the creation of an institution that has today changed thousands of lives, developed countless communication building.

As an educational institution, we not only have a responsibility towards our state, but also to the entire country. Most states collapse as a result of low level of education. Our vision is to educate more and more students, so that our country becomes more progressive and technologically developed. We want to tap the potential of this region and help children realize their strengths and capabilities. Realizing our commitment to the people of this region, we have decided to give admission to students at any point in their career to use education to further improve their prospects and brighten their future.

“Genius without education is like silver in the mine.” These words of Benjamin Franklin are so true. Just like that, it's the teachers who polish their students by inspiring and empowering them to shine and succeed in every aspect of their lives. Behind every successful person lies the lessons, efforts and guidance of teachers who equip their students with all the knowledge and skills to enter the real world. Now when I look back, I still remember all of my teachers whom I saw as my role models and mentors. I attribute all of my achievements and accomplishments to the teachers who taught me at different levels.

Our vision is to be recognized for high-quality academic programs and research, an excellent faculty, and the state-of-the-art facilities that we provide to our students. We are committed to giving our students an environment in which they develop critical and analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills. There is constant endeavour to bring a holistic approach through multidisciplinary education.

We don’t compete with other universities, but with ourselves in trying to do better constantly by improving the learning environment, encouraging participation of students, building character of students, and boosting confidence and self-esteem in them. In pursuit of the vision of continuing the formidable task of nation-building, SGRRU has been making sincere efforts to promote excellence in education.
