The B.Sc. programme in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics intends to create competent professionals with in-depth understanding of various aspects offered under this programme. It serves as a hub for education and practical application in the field of nutrition and dietetics. The programme offers a broad range of courses spanning across areas of community nutrition, food science, dietetics and nutrition counseling. The programme aims at conceptual understanding of the key elements of food, nutrition and dietetics. Students would be trained in areas such as nutritional assessment, diet planning, food product development, health communication, clinical nutrition, nutrition education and behavior modification. The field of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics is vast, dynamic and an evolving area of specialization. In today’s world, people are now becoming aware of their healthy and fit lifestyle. Certified dieticians and nutritionist get the opportunity to work with hospitals, business organisations, the sports sector, etc. This requires students to learn and be abreast with recent advances and evidence- based guidelines in the field of food and nutrition. The skills and attributes acquired during the programme would open doors to job opportunities in areas of food science, nutrition, health promotion, and disease management, also paves way for research and higher education for interested students.
B.Sc. Food Nutrition & Dietetics
B.Sc. 3years / 4years (B.Sc. Honours)
Any candidate who has passed 12th with science or the Higher Secondary Board of Examination with science from any recognized board or equivalent to it having not less than 40 % marks in aggregate is eligible for admission. However, SC/ST, OBC and other eligible candidates shall be given relaxation as per University rules.

1. Nutritionist/Dietitian
Nutritionists and dietitians work in various settings, including hospitals, clinics, fitness centres, research organizations, and food companies. A dietitian is a trained professional who helps people improve their health by making changes to their diets. They work in teams with other professionals in hospitals and clinics, dealing with the various health issues of patients of all ages. They may also provide nutritional counseling. Clinical dietitians offer medical nutrition therapy to patients who are admitted to hospitals. Community dieticians provide health guidance to a specific part of a community. Candidates who become community dieticians work closely with community health clinics, gyms, or home health agencies. Corporate dietitians usually work in the food industry, marketing and advertising. Such dieticians take control of food surveys, provide food guidance for any publication, and write reports which include the nutritional value of dishes, dietary fibre, vitamin supplements, etc. Sports nutritionist take care of the dietary intake of the sportsperson. It also covers coming up with appropriate nutritional guidance which covers organic substance intake.
2. Government Domains
Individuals with a degree in Dietetics and Nutrition can also contribute to the government domains and they have been hired in the same as well. Many Dietetics and Nutrition graduates have been hired in government hospitals to work and Research food/diet/nutrition-oriented subjects and diagnose health/diet/lifestyle-related problems. They are also hired by legal organizations like FSSAI which regenerates Food Licensing.
3. Academics - Management Studies:
The ongoing demand for a perfect lifestyle and smooth health has led people to engage themselves in acknowledging the insights into Dietetics and Nutrition. Individuals with a degree in the same can move ahead by enrolling themselves and carriers of their subject and can disseminate their information by working as teaching professionals, lecturers and professors.
4. Food Quality and Safety
Ensuring food safety and quality is a critical aspect of the food industry. Food technologists and food safety professionals play a vital role in conducting inspections, audits, and assessments to ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations. They work in food processing companies, regulatory agencies, research institutions, and quality control laboratories. 6. Public Health Nutrition

Public health nutritionists work with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and community programs to develop and implement nutrition initiatives. They may be involved in designing and evaluating nutrition education programs, conducting community assessments, and advocating for policy changes to improve public health outcomes.
