The Department of Microbiology actively encourages both students and faculty members to participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Our students regularly take part in poster competitions, rangoli competitions, slogan-writing competitions, sports events, charity activities, Science Day celebrations, and various other academic and cultural programmes.

Prof. Manjusha Tyagi, Professor and Head, Department of Microbiology, has received several prestigious awards and recognitions for her outstanding contributions to teaching, research, and extension activities. Her achievements include the Faculty of the Year Award, Researcher of the Year Award, Extension Award, Women Scientist Award, and several other honors recognizing her excellence in academics, research, innovation, and community engagement.
Dr. Shweta Sahni, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology, SBAS, SGRRU, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the dual role of microorganisms as both beneficial and harmful entities on the occasion of International Microorganisms Day at Uttaranchal College of Biomedical Sciences and Hospital (UCBMSH) on 17 September 2026. The theme of the event was "Microorganisms: Friends and Foes".
In addition, the faculty members actively contribute to the academic community by serving as judges for poster competitions at conferences, panel experts, session chairs, resource persons, and invited speakers at national and international events. Their expertise and dedication continue to strengthen the department's reputation as a center of excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.
