As per the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Anti-Ragging Cell, our institution SGRRIM & HS, College of nursing observed Anti-Ragging Week from 12th August 2026 to 18th August 2026 under the guidance of Dr. Arunkumar, Chair person of SGRRU Anti Ragging committee, Prof. Dr. G. Ramalakshmi, Dean of SGRRIM & HS, College of Nursing, Dr. Ponmari. K, Professor, Anti Ragging Coordinator from SON with the objective of creating awareness about the harmful effects of ragging and ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.
Schedule of Activities
An Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme was conducted to mark Anti-Ragging Day. Students were sensitized about the meaning and forms of ragging, its impact on victims and the legal and disciplinary consequences associated with ragging.
The session also emphasized the importance of maintaining professional behaviour, mutual respect and a supportive learning environment in the nursing college.
Students were encouraged to immediately report any incident or suspected incident of ragging to the appropriate authority.
A Slogan Writing Competition was organized to encourage students to creatively express their views against ragging.
Students prepared meaningful slogans highlighting the importance of friendship, respect, dignity, equality and a safe campus.
The activity provided an opportunity for students to communicate the message:
“Say No to Ragging – Say Yes to Respect.”
An Essay Writing Competition was conducted on the theme of anti-ragging awareness.
Students expressed their opinions on topics including:
The activity helped students develop awareness as well as critical thinking and communication skills.
An Anti-Ragging Poster Competition was organized to promote awareness through visual communication.
Students prepared creative posters carrying messages related to:
The selected posters were displayed at prominent locations within the college to reinforce the anti-ragging message among students and staff.
An Anti-Ragging Awareness Rally was organized by the nursing students to conclude Anti-Ragging Week 2026.
Students participated enthusiastically and carried anti-ragging placards and slogans. The rally emphasized the message of maintaining a ragging-free educational environment and encouraged students to stand together against all forms of ragging.
The rally promoted the values of respect, dignity, friendship, unity and responsibility.
As part of the programme, students were encouraged to take the Anti-Ragging Pledge and reaffirm their commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful campus.
“I pledge to maintain a ragging-free campus. I will respect my fellow students and help create a safe, friendly and inclusive learning environment. I will neither participate in nor encourage ragging in any form. I will immediately report any incident of ragging to the appropriate authority.”
Students actively participated in all the activities organized during Anti-Ragging Week. The programmes provided an effective platform for students to understand their responsibilities and contribute towards creating a positive academic environment.
The creative competitions and awareness activities also encouraged students to communicate the anti-ragging message among their peers.

The Anti-Ragging Day & Week 2026 programme at SGRRIM & HS, College of Nursing, Shri Guru Ram Rai University was successfully conducted from 12–18 August 2026 through a series of awareness, creative and outreach activities.
The programme reinforced the message that ragging is unacceptable and has no place in a professional educational institution. The active involvement of students helped strengthen the collective commitment towards maintaining a safe, respectful and ragging-free campus.
