The program was organized to create awareness about schizophrenia, reduce stigma related to mental illness, and promote understanding and support within the community. The program was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Dr. G. Ramalakshmi, Dean, SGRR College of Nursing along with the active support of faculty members of the Department of Mental Health Nursing including Mrs. Reena Maibam (HOD, Mental Health Nursing), Ms. Sulekha, Ms. Deepali Rawat, and Mr. Shashank Manwal.
World Schizophrenia Awareness Day is observed to spread awareness regarding schizophrenia and mental health issues. The Department of Mental Health Nursing, SGRR College of Nursing, organized an awareness program in the community area to educate people about the signs, symptoms, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of schizophrenia. The program aimed to encourage positive attitudes toward individuals suffering from mental illness and to motivate the community to seek timely medical support.
Faculty members and students from the Department of Psychiatric Nursing actively participated in the program. Community members from the Mothrowala area also attended the awareness session with enthusiasm.
The program successfully increased awareness among community members regarding schizophrenia and mental health. Participants gained knowledge about early identification, treatment options, and the importance of social support for people with schizophrenia. The awareness activity also helped in reducing stigma and promoting mental well-being in the community.
The World Schizophrenia Awareness Day program was successfully conducted by the Department of Mental Health Nursing, SGRR College of Nursing. The event created awareness regarding mental health and emphasized the importance of empathy, early treatment, and community support for individuals with schizophrenia.
