The Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing successfully organized World Hepatitis Day 2026 on 28th July 2026 with the theme "Let's Break It Down." The programme aimed to raise awareness about hepatitis, emphasize the importance of early diagnosis, vaccination, liver protection, and promote healthy lifestyle practices among students.
The event commenced with an informative session highlighting the significance of World Hepatitis Day and the need to spread awareness regarding hepatitis prevention, timely screening, and vaccination. Students and faculty members participated enthusiastically, making the programme educational and impactful.
The event was coordinated under the guidance of the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing. Prof. Dr. k. Ponmari, Prof. Komal, and Mr. Ankit served as the event in-charges, while Ms. Preeti, Ms. Kanchan, and Mr. Samuel extended their valuable support in coordinating the programme and ensuring its smooth execution.
As part of the celebration, two competitions were organized to encourage awareness and active student participation.
The Debate Competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students who presented well-structured arguments and demonstrated excellent communication skills, critical thinking, and confidence while discussing topics related to hepatitis awareness and public health.
The competition was judged by Prof. Dr. Dineshwori, HOD of Obstetrical & Midwifery Department and Prof. Rebecca.
The Poster Making Competition provided students with an opportunity to creatively express important messages related to hepatitis prevention, vaccination, and healthy living through informative and visually appealing posters.
The competition was judged by Prof. Dr. Ramalakshmi, Dean, College of Nursing, Prof. Reena, HOD of Mental Health Nursing Department.
The programme concluded with the announcement of the winners, followed by words of appreciation for all participants. Faculty members congratulated the students for their enthusiastic participation and encouraged them to continue promoting awareness about hepatitis and preventive healthcare within the community.
Overall, the event was a great success, fulfilling its objective of spreading awareness about hepatitis while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork among the students. The Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing extends its heartfelt gratitude to all faculty members, judges, coordinators, and students whose active participation and support contributed to the successful organization of the programme.
