World Heart Day is observed every year to create awareness about cardiovascular health and to encourage individuals and communities to adopt healthy lifestyle practices. The Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, SGRRIM & HS, College of Nursing, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun, organized a World Heart Day 2026 programme on 29 September 2026 at 11:00 AM at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Patel Nagar, Dehradun. The programme was organized around the theme "Don’t Miss a Beat", with emphasis on recognizing warning signs, protecting heart health, and taking timely action.

The World Heart Day programme focused on increasing awareness about cardiovascular diseases and the importance of preventive health practices. The theme "Don’t Miss a Beat" was used to emphasize three key messages:
"See the Signs • Protect Your Heart • Demand Action"
Participants were encouraged to recognize possible warning signs, follow healthy lifestyle practices, undergo regular health check-ups, and seek appropriate medical attention when required.
The programme also highlighted the important role of nurses in health education, health promotion, disease prevention, early identification of risk factors, and encouraging healthy lifestyle practices among individuals and communities.
The nursing students presented a role play depicting common situations related to heart disease risk factors, warning signs, prevention, and the importance of timely medical intervention. Through realistic situations and dialogue, the students demonstrated how individuals can recognize warning symptoms and take appropriate action.
Following the role play, a health awareness session was conducted for the participants. Nursing students and faculty members provided health education regarding cardiovascular disease prevention and healthy lifestyle practices.
The participants were educated about the major modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, including physical inactivity, unhealthy diet, tobacco use, overweight/obesity, hypertension, and diabetes.
The World Heart Day 2026 programme provided an opportunity to reinforce awareness regarding heart health and cardiovascular disease prevention. The key messages encouraged participants to adopt healthier lifestyle practices, remain physically active, avoid tobacco, maintain a healthy weight, and undergo regular health assessments.
The programme also strengthened the understanding of the importance of early recognition of symptoms and timely action in protecting cardiovascular health.
