World Health Day 2026, observed on 7th April, focuses on the theme “Together for health. Stand with science” highlighting the critical need for scientific collaboration to protect human and environmental health. To mark this occasion, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing, SGRRIM&HS College of Nursing, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun organized a seminar on 7th April 2026 under the leadership of Dr. G Ramalakshmi, Dean SGRRIM&HS College of Nursing and guidance of Dr. Dineshwori Chanu Paonam, HOD, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing, SGRRIM&HS College of Nursing. The event aimed to create awareness among faculty and students to promote mental health which is crucial for managing lifestyle and overall wellbeing.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM

  • Highlight important health issues affecting people worldwide
  • Encourage individuals and communities to adopt healthier lifestyles.
  • Advocate for better healthcare services, accessibility and quality.
  • Focus on reducing disparities in healthcare access among different populations.

LECTURE SESSION

An informative lecture session was taken by Dr. Mohan Dhayani, Professor cum H.O.D Department of Mental Health (Psychiatric), Shri Mahant Indresh Hospital who shared valuable insights on employee wellness program: Promoting mental wellbeing of their workforce. The lecture motivated the faculties and students to actively participate to initiate that promote mental well-being.

PARTICIPATION

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from approximately 200 students and faculty members of the College of Nursing. Students actively contributed to all activities, awareness, and social responsibility.

OUTCOME OF THE PROGRAM

The celebration successfully raised awareness to bridge the gap between work and life, ensuring that health decisions are informed and coordinated for a healthier future.

CONCLUSION

World Health Day highlights the importance of good health and well being for the people worldwide. It emphasizes that health is a basic human right and requires the combined efforts of individuals, communities and organizations.
