Introduction

World Bipolar Day is observed annually on 30th March to raise awareness about bipolar disorder and to eliminate stigma associated with mental illness. The day also promotes understanding and acceptance of individuals living with bipolar disorder.

Objectives of the Program

  • To create awareness regarding bipolar disorder 
  • To educate students about its symptoms, causes, and management 
  • To reduce stigma related to mental health issues 
  • To encourage early diagnosis and treatment 

Theme Details: “#BipolarStrong”

The theme for World Bipolar Day 2026, “#BipolarStrong,” emphasizes strength, resilience, and empowerment of individuals living with bipolar disorder. It highlights the importance of standing strong despite the challenges posed by mood swings, stigma, and misunderstanding associated with the condition.

This theme aims to:

  • Promote self-acceptance and confidence among individuals affected by bipolar disorder 
  • Encourage people to share their experiences and break the silence surrounding mental health 
  • Spread awareness that individuals with bipolar disorder can lead productive and fulfilling lives 
  • Foster a supportive environment that focuses on strength rather than limitations

The use of the hashtag #BipolarStrong also reflects the role of social media in spreading awareness globally, encouraging communities to unite, support one another, and advocate for better mental health care.

Overall, the theme conveys a powerful message of hope, resilience, and unity, inspiring individuals to overcome challenges and seek help without fear of judgment.

Program Details

The program was organized by the Department of Mental Health Nursing under the guidance of Prof. Dr. G. Ramalakshmi. The event commenced with an introduction emphasizing the importance of mental health awareness.

Activities Conducted

1. Seminar Presentation:

A seminar was presented by Ms. Ayushi, M.Sc. Nursing 1st Year, who elaborated on bipolar disorder, including its types, clinical features, treatment, and nursing management. The session was informative and well appreciated by the audience.

2. Face Painting Competition:

A face painting competition was organized for students to creatively express themes related to mental health awareness. Participants showcased their artistic skills while conveying meaningful messages about mental well-being.

3. Interactive Session:

An interactive discussion was held where participants clarified their doubts and gained deeper insights into mental health issues.

Participation

The program saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members of the college, making it engaging and informative.
