Spreading Awareness on Vaccination: World Immunization Week Initiative

On 24th April 2026, Department of Child Health Nursing along with students of MSc 1st Yr, MSc 2nd Yr & ANM- First year visited the New Life Centre School Dehradun. An immunization awareness programme was conducted at the school in observance of World Immunization Week, with the objective of promoting awareness about the importance of vaccines in preventing diseases among children.

The programme began with a brief introduction to immunization, explaining its role in protecting individuals and communities from various infectious diseases. The importance of celebrating Immunization Week was also highlighted to create a better understanding of global efforts toward improving public health.

As part of the programme, a visit was made to the school where students and staff actively participated in the activities. The MSc students were introduced, and their involvement in health promotion initiatives was explained.

A skit was performed by the 1st-year ANM students, presenting the message of timely vaccination in a simple and engaging manner. This was followed by a health education session conducted by an MSc student, who discussed the immunization schedule, benefits of vaccines, and addressed common concerns in an easy-to-understand way.

Faculty members were felicitated as a token of appreciation for their guidance and support in organizing the programme.

In addition, anthropometric measurements of nursery and kindergarten children were taken to assess their growth and nutritional status.

The programme was carried out smoothly and received good participation from students, faculty, and school children. It helped in spreading awareness about immunization and emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare practices.
