School of Humanities and Social Sciences Emerges as Overall Champion in SGRRU Khelotsav-2025
The grand finale of Khelotsav-2025, the annual sports meet of Shri Guru Ram Rai University (SGRRU), was held on Saturday at the university sports ground. During this six-day sports festival, students from various faculties participated in 21 different events, displaying their talent and captivating the audience with their exceptional performances. The inaugural ceremony began with a Ganesh Vandana presented by the students, which mesmerized everyone. Following that, students from the Department of Music gave energetic and enthusiastic performances, filling the entire field with the chants of “Jai Ho!”. Honourable President of the University, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, congratulated all the winners, participants, and organizers for the successful completion of the event and extended his best wishes to everyone. Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Prathapan K. Pillai, Acting Vice-Chancellor and Advisor to the Honourable President, inaugurated the closing ceremony. In his address, he said that sports are not only a measure of physical fitness but also teach essential values such as discipline, patience, and leadership. Congratulating the winners, he added that just as runners push their limits on the track, one can achieve any goal in life through consistent effort and a positive mindset. University Registrar Dr. Lokesh Gambhir stated that the event, held from October 13 to 18, showcased the multifaceted talents of students and further strengthened the university’s culture of discipline through sports. Khelotsav-2025 Secretary and University Sports Officer Satya Prakash Joshi presented the sports report, emphasizing that the event was not merely a competition but a platform for the holistic development of students. He said, “Winners become an inspiration, and those who lose learn valuable lessons.” He encouraged all participants and wished them a bright future. Throughout the competition, students delivered remarkable performances. In the 100-meter sprint, Anshul Bisht from the School of Engineering and Technology won the boys’ category, while Sakshi from the School of Humanities topped the girls’ category. In the 4×100-meter relay, the School of Yogic Science and Naturopathy won in the boys’ category with great coordination and speed, and the School of Management and Commerce Studies won in the girls’ category. In tug of war, the School of Engineering and Technology emerged victorious among boys, while the School of Pharmacy won among girls. By securing the highest number of medals, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences claimed the Overall Championship Trophy, proving that mental strength, strategic planning, and team spirit can together achieve any goal. The event was hosted gracefully by Isha Sharma, Kanishk Rawat, and Yanish Rawat, who ensured that the program ran smoothly and effectively. At the closing ceremony, Dr. Puneet Ohri (Chairperson, Khelotsav) expressed gratitude to all participants, faculty members, and students associated with the event. The ceremony was also graced by Dr. Ganarajan, Dr. Vipul Jain, Dr. Ashish Kulshreshtha, Dr. Kamla Jakhmola, Dr. Sumita, Dr. Manjusha Tyagi, along with faculty members, department heads, students, and sports enthusiasts from across the university.
Khelotsav-2025 once again affirmed that Shri Guru Ram Rai University remains dedicated not only to academic excellence but also to nurturing students’ growth and excellence in sports.
