Youth Connect Programme Organised at SGRR University

Youth urged to reconnect with their roots, focus on innovation and skill development

A Youth Connect programme was jointly organised by Shri Guru Ram Rai University and Abhyudaya Bharat Rising Forum at the auditorium of Shri Guru Ram Rai University. The objective of the programme was to connect the youth with the country’s glorious past and cultural values while preparing them to face the challenges of the future.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Saraswati Vandana. Honourable President of the University, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, conveyed his best wishes for the success of the programme. He said that it is extremely important to connect Indian youth with their history and culture. He emphasised that a new and prosperous India can be built only on the foundation of values and knowledge.

Vice-Chancellor of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dr. Bipin Chandra Ghildiyal, recalled the glorious history of the University and the Shri Guru Ram Rai Education Mission and said that it is a matter of pride to be associated with the Shri Guru Ram Rai Education Mission. “Our 350-year-old glorious history fills us with pride,” he said. He added that Shri Mahant Indiresh Charan Das Ji Maharaj laid the foundation of the Shri Guru Ram Rai Education Mission in 1952 and established more than 100 schools across North India, which continue to serve the needs of society even today.

He said that it is extremely important for the youth to remain connected with their roots. “Roots give life, while dreams give wings. Both are essential for development,” he said. He stressed that young people need to remain connected with their culture, history and values.

Chief speaker and Abhyudaya Bharat Pracharak Tapan Ji, while addressing the youth, said that the present education system places considerable emphasis on securing maximum marks, whereas marks alone are not sufficient for success in life. He said that there is a need for young people to focus on skill development. If the youth do not pay attention to developing their skills, they may become a responsibility for society instead of becoming its strength.

He said that studying history reveals that those who subjected India to oppression and exploitation also included people from within the country. “To build India, it is essential to understand India,” he said. He added that development cannot be achieved merely through buildings and material resources; a sense of gratitude, sacrifice and responsibility is equally important.

Wing Commander (Retd.) Kumud Sethi said that in the present era, greater attention needs to be given to research and modern technology for self-defence and national security. He said that young people should not limit themselves to merely using social media platforms; instead, they should also move towards developing their own social media platforms and promoting innovation in the field of technology.

On the occasion, the visiting guests were honoured by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Bipin Chandra Ghildiyal and Registrar Prof. Lokesh Gambhir with shawls and saplings.

Dean, School of Engineering, Prof. Sonika Kandari, Dhananjay Ji, Saurabh, Paras, along with faculty members, non-teaching staff and students of the University, were present on the occasion.
