  • Students of SGRRU raised the slogan “Quit Drugs, Connect with Life”, echoing across Dehradun.

The students of Shri Guru Ram Rai University organized a massive public awareness rally against drug abuse to sensitize society. On this occasion, the Honourable President of the University, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, urged the youth by saying that addiction in any form plunges life into darkness. He emphasized that if the youth resolve firmly, the dream of a drug-free society and a drug-free India can indeed be realized. He encouraged the students to adopt education and health, and to stay away from the evil of addiction.

In this grand rally, organized by the Bar Association, Dehradun, nearly 2,000 students and faculty members of Shri Guru Ram Rai University participated and spread the message of quitting drugs. The rally also witnessed participation from the Dehradun Bar Association, lawyers, various social organizations, and the citizens of Doon. The rally was flagged off from the District Court premises by Honourable Justice Manoj Tiwari of the Uttarakhand High Court, Nainital, and President of the Bar Association Dehradun, Manmohan Kandwal. It concluded at Gandhi Park after starting from the District Court.

Registrar of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dr. Lokesh Gambhir, stated that in this battle against drugs, the role of youth is most crucial. If the youth become aware and distance themselves from addiction, society will automatically become healthy and strong.

The awareness rally passed through the District Court premises, Prince Chowk, Raja Road, Paltan Bazaar, Ghantaghar, and concluded at Gandhi Chowk. During the march, students carried placards and raised slogans to spread awareness. Slogans such as “Quit Drugs, Connect with Life,” “Adopt Education, Not Intoxication – Build a Bright Future,” and “One Slogan for All – Let’s Make Our Nation Drug-Free” drew the attention of the public.

The enthusiasm of the youth in the rally was remarkable. With one voice, everyone declared “Say No to Drugs” and pledged to build a drug-free society.
