Amid the rapid growth of Uttarakhand's tourism and hospitality sector, Shri Guru Ram Rai University (SGRRU) has taken a significant step towards shaping the bright future of young aspirants by inaugurating the state-of-the-art building of its School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. The newly inaugurated facility, dedicated on Saturday, will offer practical, industry-oriented academic programmes designed to prepare students for rewarding careers in leading hotels, resorts, airlines, cruise lines, tourism organisations and the food service industry, both in India and abroad. The University's vision extends beyond awarding degrees to developing highly skilled professionals equipped to meet the evolving demands of the global hospitality industry. On this occasion, the Honourable President of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the entire team of the School of Hospitality & Tourism Management.

The new building was inaugurated by Mr Manoj Mishra, Cluster General Manager (Operations) and General Manager, Taj Rishikesh Resort & Spa, Uttarakhand. Speaking on the occasion, he described the University's visionary initiative as a significant milestone in developing highly trained, competent and industry-ready professionals for the hospitality and service sector. He expressed confidence that the modern facility would provide students with world-class training, practical exposure and industry-oriented education. Mr Mishra further stated that the initiative would strengthen collaboration between academia and industry and play a vital role in supplying skilled hospitality professionals to hotels and tourism organisations across India and overseas.

He also announced that the Taj Group will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the SGRRU School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. Under this collaboration, professionals from the Taj Group will actively contribute to the professional training of students and help prepare them according to contemporary industry standards and expectations.

The cake-cutting ceremony organised to commemorate the inauguration of the newly constructed School of Hospitality & Tourism Management building became a vibrant symbol of celebration, enthusiasm and togetherness. Faculty members, students, dignitaries and distinguished guests exchanged warm greetings and congratulated one another on this landmark occasion. Amid cheerful applause, smiling faces and a festive atmosphere, the ceremony added immense warmth and grandeur to the inauguration, making the historic event truly memorable for everyone present.

Vice-Chancellor of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dr K. Pratapan, said that the University will work towards promoting Uttarakhand's indigenous organic produce and traditional mountain cuisine by presenting them in a contemporary format and helping them gain national as well as international recognition.

Dr Vinay Rana, Dean of Hotel Management & Tourism Hospitality, stated that the University is committed to providing students with internship opportunities in reputed hotel groups along with 100% placement assistance, ensuring they are well-prepared for successful careers in the hospitality industry.

University Registrar Dr Lokesh Gambhir said that empowering youth through employment-oriented education and reducing migration from the state remain among the University's key priorities.

Today, Uttarakhand has emerged as one of India's leading tourism destinations. The Char Dham Yatra, religious tourism, adventure tourism, wellness tourism, eco-tourism and the rapidly expanding hotel and resort industry have significantly increased the demand for professionally trained hospitality personnel. Consequently, Hotel Management and Tourism Hospitality have become among the fastest-growing career-oriented fields for young people. There is a continuous demand for skilled professionals in areas such as Executive Chef and Culinary Arts, Food Production, Front Office Operations, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage Service, Event Management and Tourism Services.

The programme was attended by heads of departments, faculty members and a large number of students. Guests appreciated the culinary creations prepared by the students of the Department of Hotel Management. The University also announced that students of the School of Hospitality & Tourism Management will, in future, manage hospitality arrangements for major institutional events, enabling them to gain valuable real-world industry experience alongside their academic learning.
