The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great dignity and patriotic fervour at Shri Guru Ram Rai University and all institutions of the SGRR Group. The university campus, beautifully adorned in the colours of the national flag, echoed with pride, enthusiasm and a strong spirit of nationalism. The occasion paid heartfelt tribute to the brave freedom fighters and martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation. Through vibrant cultural performances, students expressed their love for the country and their sense of responsibility towards the nation.
At Shri Darbar Sahib, Sajjadanishin Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj unfurled the National Flag at 8:00 AM. On the occasion, he paid heartfelt tributes to the immortal freedom fighters and martyrs of the nation and extended his warm greetings to the people on Independence Day.
At the Shri Guru Ram Rai University campus, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) K. Pratapan unfurled the National Flag at 9:00 AM. Extending his Independence Day greetings, he said that the true meaning of freedom can be realised only when we understand not only our rights but also our responsibilities. He said that the responsibility of a university is not merely to award degrees to students, but also to nurture responsible, sensitive and capable citizens who can make a positive contribution to the development of society and the nation. He further said that SGRR University is continuously strengthening its role in nation-building through education, research, innovation and service.
During the programme, NCC cadets presented a disciplined and patriotic march-past. Patriotic songs, dances, poetry recitations and cultural performances by the students moved the audience and filled the atmosphere with emotion. The campus resonated with patriotic songs and enthusiastic chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” creating an atmosphere of immense national pride and patriotism.
