A field visit was organized on 10th April 2026 by Shri Guru Ram Rai University to Latika Roy Foundation, Dehradun for the students of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and Postgraduate Diploma in Guidance and Counselling. The visit was conducted under the guidance of the Dean of College of Education, SGRR University, Professor Malvika Kandpal, coordinated by Assistant Professor, Dr. Ritu Sinha and was facilitated by Ms. Rupa Bishnoi from the Latika Roy Foundation.

The Latika Roy Foundation is a renowned NGO working for children with special needs such as intellectual disabilities, autism, and cerebral palsy, focusing on education, therapy, and rehabilitation. The primary objective of the visit was to provide practical exposure to students regarding special education, counselling practices, and rehabilitation services, helping them connect theoretical knowledge with real-life experiences.

Students observed special education classrooms, therapy sessions, early intervention programs, and vocational training activities, gaining insight into individualized teaching methods and the supportive environment for children with special needs.

The Latika Roy Foundation follows a multidisciplinary approach involving educators, therapists, counsellors and parents providing individualized intervention plans and working closely with families for holistic development.

Through this visit students developed a better understanding of handling children with special needs, the importance of empathy and patience, and the practical application of counselling and educational techniques in real-life settings.
