On the auspicious occasion of Independence Day, Shri Guru Ram Rai University extended a compassionate hand to the disaster-stricken families of Dharali (Uttarkashi) by dispatching essential relief and food supplies. Two trucks and four vehicles, loaded with aid, set off on Friday morning, carrying not just necessities but also a message of solidarity.
While the nation was celebrating the joy of freedom, SGRR University pledged to heal the wounds of those devastated by the recent calamity. The initiative took shape as Vice-Chancellor Dr. Kumud Saklani and Registrar Dr. Lokesh Gambhir ceremoniously flagged off the relief convoy.
Honourable President of SGRR University, Sajjadanashin Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, stated:
“In this hour of crisis, every member of the SGRR family must stand shoulder to shoulder with the victims, offering every possible assistance. This is not just our duty — it is our moral responsibility.”
The recent natural disaster in Dharali has left many families homeless, taking away their houses, livelihoods, and dreams. In response, SGRR University and Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital have committed not only to delivering relief supplies but also to providing free medical care to the affected and free education in select university courses to the children of these families.
Through SGRR Public School in Barkot (Uttarkashi), the relief packages — including medicines, food grains, blankets, clothing, and other essential items — are being distributed to the affected villages. The Principals of SGRR Public School Barkot, Ms. Kamla Rawat, and SGRR Public School Purola, Mr. Uttam Singh Chauhan have been coordinating with the ADM of Uttarkashi and local administrative authorities to ensure effective distribution. Clear directives have been issued to all SGRR Group institutions in Uttarkashi district to contribute actively to relief and rehabilitation efforts.
This initiative is far more than a formal act of charity — it is a living testament to empathy, compassion, and social responsibility. Amidst the cold winds and broken roofs of Dharali, these relief supplies are not merely goods; they are a ray of hope, a promise that the victims are not alone — the entire SGRR family stands steadfastly by their side.
