SGRRU

A documentary film Session was organized for Students, featuring the National Filme  award-winning movie (2011) “I Am Kalam”.  The film was screened in the market section at 63rd  CANNES Film Festival on 12th May, 2010. The film, directed by Nila Madhab Panda and produced by the Smile Foundation, was selected for its inspiring narrative centred around a young boy named Chhotu, who dreams of rising above his circumstances by emulating the values and vision of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Through its compelling portrayal of ambition, education, and social equity, the film resonated deeply with the students.

The session was attended by all students of our School. Following the screening, two freshers from the B. Tech program delivered insightful presentations on emerging topics in Artificial Intelligence. The first presentation focused on Generative AI, offering an overview of how machines can create new content such as text, images, and music by learning patterns from existing data. Real-world applications like chatbots, image generators, and recommendation systems were discussed to illustrate the growing relevance of generative models in today’s digital landscape.

The second presentation introduced the concept of AI, providing a foundational understanding of rule-based systems and basic machine learning algorithms. The students emphasized how these systems operate within defined parameters to perform specific tasks, and how they differ from more complex AI models. Both presentations were well-structured and delivered with confidence.

Faculty members appreciated the thoughtful integration of cinematic storytelling with contemporary technological discourse. The event successfully combined emotional inspiration with intellectual stimulation, encouraging students to reflect on their personal goals while gaining exposure to cutting-edge developments in AI. Overall, the session served as a meaningful platform for learning, discussion, and peer-led engagement, reinforcing the values of education, innovation, and self-belief.
