The Department of Physiotherapy, School of Allied and Health Care Sciences, SGRR University, Dehradun, celebrated World Physiotherapy Day on 8th September 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and faculty members. The event aimed to highlight the importance of physiotherapy in promoting health, preventing disability, improving functional independence, and enhancing quality of life.
The celebration commenced with a skit and poster competition in the Middle Block OPD Area. Students actively participated and showcased their creativity and understanding of physiotherapy through informative and engaging presentations.
The poster competition winners were Ritika and Nitin from BPT 1st Year, who secured 1st position; Ananya Dutt from BPT 1st Year, who secured 2nd position; and Yashika from BPT 1st Year, who secured 3rd position. Their efforts and creative presentations were appreciated by the guests and faculty members.
The event was graced by Dr. Abin Pal, Chief Operating Officer (COO), SGRR University, and Prof. (Dr.) Keerti Singh, Dean, School of Allied and Health Care Sciences, as esteemed guests.
The formal programme began with the ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by Saraswati Vandana, seeking blessings for knowledge and wisdom. The programme was further enlivened by colourful dance and singing performances presented by the students.
The celebration concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where the winners and participants were felicitated for their achievements and enthusiastic participation.
All faculty members of the Department of Physiotherapy, including Prof. (Dr.) Niraj Kumar, Dr. Sharda Sharma, Dr. Shama (PT), Dr. Sandeep Kumar (PT), Dr. Tabassum (PT), Dr. Surbhi Thapliyal (PT), Dr. Akansha (PT), Dr. Ravinder (PT), Dr. Abhishek Soni (PT), Dr. Sushant Kimothi (PT), Dr. Vishal Chaudhary (PT), Dr. Ritika (PT), Dr. Vinay (PT), and Dr. Mahima (PT), were present during the event.
The celebration concluded on a positive and inspiring note, reinforcing the vital contribution of physiotherapy to healthcare, rehabilitation, and quality of life.
