The School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Shri Guru Ram Rai University successfully organized Research Conclave 2025. The theme of the event was “Viksit Bharat – Research and Innovation for Sustainable Development.” The two-day conclave, held from September 19 to 20, was jointly organized under the aegis of the Departments of History and Home Science.

The conference was held in the auditorium at Pathribagh, where researchers, teachers, and participants from various schools of the university presented their research and ideas on innovation and sustainable development.

On this occasion, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, President of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, extended his best wishes to the organizers of the Research Conclave conducted by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The conclave was inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Kumud Saklani, Chief Guest and Session Chair Prof. (Dr.) Surekha Dangwal, Vice-Chancellor of Doon University, Prof. (Dr.) D.P. Maithani, Director, Innovation and Incubation Centre, Prof. (Dr.) Preeti Tiwari, Dean, and Dr. Sunil Kishtwal, Head of the Department of History and Conclave Convener.

Addressing students and researchers at the inaugural session, Prof. (Dr.) Kumud Saklani, Vice-Chancellor of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, said that today the exchange of continuous information and knowledge has increased, along with the need to explore new avenues of entrepreneurship. She emphasized that incorporating water conservation management into our lifestyle can help protect the environment. She also highlighted the university’s efforts in extending maximum possible assistance to disaster victims in Uttarakhand, reflecting the institution’s responsibility towards society.

Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Surekha Dangwal, Vice-Chancellor of Doon University, said that the New Education Policy (NEP) provides students with better opportunities for making India self-reliant. She stressed that the NEP is not just a medium for acquiring education but also prepares students for future competition. She stated that institutional collaboration is essential to realize the shared vision of making India a global leader by 2047, harnessing the power of knowledge and innovation. She also highlighted the importance of sustainable development and cultural heritage conservation, while urging the youth to recognize regional languages and contribute through academic excellence and innovation to make India a Vishwaguru (world leader).

On this occasion, Prof. (Dr.) D.P. Maithani enlightened students and researchers about aspects such as Make in India, entrepreneurship development, and innovative startups through research. He also emphasized the need for practical research.

The conclave hosted discussions on topics such as green energy and sustainable infrastructure, women empowerment and social equality, water conservation and management, climate and environmental protection, cultural heritage and sustainable tourism, as well as sustainable agriculture and food security.

During the event, competitions were organized based on research paper presentations, posters, and exhibitions by students and researchers. According to Conclave Convener Dr. Sunil Kishtwal, subject-based research paper presentations and exhibitions were organized by students, and the winners would be awarded during the closing ceremony of the conclave.

Participants presented their research and innovative ideas, which were appreciated by experts and the audience.

The organizing committee included Prof. (Dr.) Preeti Tiwari (Dean, SHSS) as Advisor; Dr. Sunil Kishtwal as Convener; Dr. Devashri Dhar as Co-Convener; while Dr. Lata Sati and Dr. Monika Sharma served as Joint Conveners. Dr. Vinod Kumar Pant and Manoj Prakash Jaguri managed the responsibilities of Treasurer.

On this occasion, Deans, Heads of Departments, and hundreds of students from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences as well as other schools of the university participated in the conclave.
