SGRRIM&HS College of Nursing B.Sc. II Semester students organized Nutrition Practical Program under Best Practice on 24TH April 2026 serving Therapeutic Diet under the guidance of Dr. G Ramalakshmi, Dean SGRRIM&HS, College of Nursing and supervision of the Class Co-Ordinator Prof. Reena Maibam (HOD of Mental Health Department and Ms.Anugrah Robert Assistant Professor at SGRRIM&HS, College of Nursing.
The therapeutic diet was prepared for patients of Shri Mahant Indresh Hospital Surgery V. The therapeutic Protien Rich Diet. Students prepared fruit chaat -A high-fibre meal providing 16.3g fibre was prepared using mixed fruit and Greek yogurt. Watermelon juice (200ml) gave hydration and maintain water level in this heat. Among the fruits studied per 100g, pomegranate had the highest fibre (4.0g), followed by apple with skin (2.4g), pineapple (1.4g), while muskmelon and grapes had 0.9g each, strawberry and Greek yogurt had probiotic. The meal meets over 20% of the daily fibre and is useful for constipation, diabetes, and weight management. The practical proves that eating unpeeled fruits, whole grains, and legumes with husk, and avoiding straining/juicing helps retain maximum dietary fibre. no sugar or banana, kiwi was added and served it to post-operative patients. Students gave Health Education to patients and their relatives regarding fibre sources, functions of fibre in wound healing, and advantages of high fibre diet in post-surgical recovery. Feedback forms were taken from patients and staff.
