Brief Profile:

Dr. Arun Kumar is a Professor department of Biotechnology and Dean School of Basic & Applied Sciences in Shri Guru Ram Rai University. He received his master’s degree in Biotechnology for HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar, Uttarakhand in 2003, Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology from Banasthali University, Rajasthan in 2011. He also qualified national eligibility test (NET). Dr. Arun was appointed first Dean-Research of Shri Guru Ram Rai University & his tenure from August 2017 to October 2022, he firmed many research policy documents to the university as per University Grant Commission (UGC) guidelines. He has more than 19 years of teaching & research experience, published more than 65 research papers in various journals of nation /international repute. One patent is also awarded to him in December 2021 by Government of India on topic “Satellitism: Novel concept for the degradation of azo dyes”. He published 04 books and number of book chapters with reputed publishers worldwide. Dr. Kumar is supervising 08 Ph.D scholars at present, 01 Ph.D. awarded and 01 thesis submitted by his Scholar. Two novel bacterial strains were identified (Geobacillus stearothermophilus “AAP7919” & Bacillus subtilis RA 29) by him for solving many environmental problems and submitted genomic sequences to NCBI in USA, EMBL in Europe and DDBJ Japan under the accession number of GU459259 & JF901735.

Dr. Kumar also chaired different sessions in national/international conferences/seminars. He holds many key positions in Shri Guru Ram Rai University like; Deputy Director IQAC, Chairperson of 08 different Board of studies Committees for designing new syllabus for different programmes of UG, PG & Ph.D. in Basic & Applied Sciences, member of Academic Council of the University, Nodal Officer of “Off campuses of the University”, Chairperson 12B Committee of the University and also Chairperson Anti-ragging Committee of Shri Guru Ram Rai University.
