The volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, Shri Guru Ram Rai University (SGRRU), actively participated in the Pre-Monsoon Preparedness Mock Drill organized on 2 July 2026 to enhance disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities. The mock drill was conducted in collaboration with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and the Fire Department. The programme aimed to strengthen coordination among various disaster response agencies and equip volunteers with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in emergency rescue operations. The programme was graced by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, who reviewed the preparedness measures and observed the live demonstrations conducted by the participating agencies. The visit highlighted the importance of disaster readiness and the collective efforts of government departments and volunteers in ensuring public safety during the monsoon season. During the training session, Aapda Mitra volunteers and NSS volunteers were introduced to the latest rescue and emergency response equipment used by the NDRF, SDRF, and Fire Department. Experts demonstrated the proper operation and application of these modern devices in disaster situations, enabling participants to gain valuable practical experience and improve their emergency response skills. The mock drill proved to be an enriching learning experience for all participants. It enhanced their understanding of disaster management, teamwork, coordination, and the effective use of modern rescue equipment, thereby strengthening their preparedness to serve the community during emergencies.
