NSS Unit of Shri Guru Ram Rai University successfully organized a One-Day Special Camp for a Cleanliness Drive on the banks of River Ganga, Rishikesh, on 15th November 2025, under the Swachh Bharat Mission initiative.

Purpose of the Camp

The primary objective of the camp was to spread awareness about cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and river conservation among students and the general public. The drive aimed at contributing to the nationwide effort of maintaining the sanctity and cleanliness of the River Ganga.

Participation

Approximately 200 NSS Volunteers from various schools of the University enthusiastically participated in the event. The volunteers were transported from Patel Nagar Campus using four (04) university buses, which departed at 9:00 AM on 15th November 2025, as per the approved schedule.

Activities Conducted

  • Cleaning of the riverbank area and nearby surroundings
  • Collection and segregation of plastic waste and biodegradable materials
  • Awareness messages on sustainable waste management
  • Encouraging visitors and local community members to support cleanliness efforts

Supervision and Coordination

The entire cleanliness drive was effectively planned, coordinated, and supervised by the NSS Programme Officers of SGRRU:
