The NSS Foundation Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor by the NSS Unit of Shri Guru Ram Rai University (SGRRU) on 24th September 2025. The event aimed to honor the spirit of the National Service Scheme (NSS) and to instill its core values of service, discipline, and nation-building among students and volunteers. The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by the NSS song, which set the tone for the event. The Chief Guest for the occasion delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the values of selfless service, community engagement, social responsibility, and leadership—all of which are the cornerstones of NSS. The Chief Guest encouraged the volunteers to uphold these ideals in both academic and personal life, serving society with dedication and humility.
Prof. P.K. Pillai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SGRRU, who lauded the efforts of the NSS Unit in fostering a spirit of social responsibility among students and emphasized the university’s commitment to holistic development. Dr. Lokesh Gambhir, Registrar, SGRRU, highlighted the importance of NSS in shaping youth as socially responsible citizens. Dr. Sunaina Rawat, NSS State Officer, reflected on the history and evolution of NSS, urging volunteers to be change- makers in their communities. She has announce to provide THREE INDEPENDENT UNITS to our University. Mr. Dhan Singh Gariya, noted as "Ped Guru", shared his unique experiences and the significance of environmental conservation through NSS initiatives. Prof. O.P. Belwal, Former NSS Officer, HNBGU, Garhwal University, recalled the early years of NSS in the region and inspired students to maintain the legacy. Prof. Malvika Kandpal, Dean Student Welfare, SGRRU, emphasized student participation in nation-building through NSS activities. Prof. Arun Kumar, Dean, School of Basic and Applied Sciences (SBAS), SGRRU, encouraged students to integrate academic knowledge with community service. Dr. Deepak Som and Mr. Ravindra Kumar, along with faculty members of SGRRU, appreciated the ongoing efforts of NSS volunteers (More than 300) and expressed their continued support. The NSS volunteers of SGRRU actively participated in the program, sharing their experiences and showcasing various social projects they had undertaken in the past year. Their enthusiasm and commitment were evident, reinforcing the university’s mission to nurture socially responsible individuals. Dr. Kamla Dhyani and Dr. Naveen Gaurav, NSS Coordinators, played a key role in organizing the event and nurturing the enthusiasm of the volunteers. The event saw active participation from NSS volunteers of SGRRU, who shared their experiences and learnings from various camps, community outreach programs, and social initiatives.
