Shri Guru Ram Rai University celebrated the 12th International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm on Sunday. On this occasion, students, faculty members, and members of the university family participated in yoga practice as per the International Yoga Protocol.
The theme of Yoga Day 2026, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing," aims to inspire people to adopt a healthy lifestyle and promote overall well-being.
During the programme, Sumir Gnawali, a student of the School of Yogic Science and Naturopathy, was honoured by the Vice Chancellor of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Prof. Dr. K. Prathapan, for his outstanding achievement. He recently brought global recognition and pride to Shri Guru Ram Rai University through his exceptional performance at the international level.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Om Narayan Tiwari, Dean of the School of Yogic Science and Naturopathy, said that yoga not only helps maintain physical and mental health but also enhances self-confidence and spreads positive energy. Dr. Tiwari encouraged everyone to embrace yoga and move towards a healthier lifestyle.
Under the leadership of Programme Coordinator Dr. Surendra Rayal from the Yoga Department, students, faculty members, and NCC cadets actively participated in the yoga session. They highlighted the benefits of various yogasanas and explained that yoga is an effective practice that helps channelise the energy of the body and mind in the right direction.
