The Five Days International Faculty Development Programme (Online Mode) on “AI for Sustainable Governance and Smart Societies: Applications in Healthcare, Environment, Agriculture and Power Management” was organized by the School of Engineering & Technology under the aegis of IQAC from 16–03–2026 to 20–03–2026. The inaugural session was graced by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) K. Prathapan Pillai, emphasizing the role of AI in building sustainable and resilient societies. Shri Ram Swarup Uniyal ji, Director ITDA highlighted the significance of capacity building, ethical AI, and academia–industry collaboration, followed by an address from Dr. Lokesh Gambhir, Registrar who emphasized the importance of integrating emerging technologies into academic and research practices.
Dr. Priti Dimri, HoD CS and Applications, GB Pant Engineering College delivered an expert talk on “AI governance and regulatory frameworks”. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Head IT AIIMS Jammu presented insights on digital technologies and AI applications in the healthcare sector. Dr. Ganesh Kumar (UTP, Malaysia) discussed AI for low-carbon and net-zero emission sustainable cities, while Ms. Anwesha Khasnobish, Scientist TCS highlighted intelligent sensing for healthcare. Dr. Mukesh C. Verma, Dy. Director IT, Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission elaborated on AI applications in the power sector and Shri Neelesh Yadav, Scientist FRI shared insights on AI applications in Agriculture sector. FDP concluded with a valedictory session including participant feedback and a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Sonika Kandari, Convener and Dr Vaibhav Sharma & Ms. Sneh Lata Aswal, Co-Conveners of FDP.
