School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Economics successfully organized a guest lecture on the theme “Indian Knowledge Systems: Building Minds, Shaping Futures” to enrich the academic understanding of students and faculty members. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Sanjeet Singh, who serves as the Dean in the School of Social Sciences at the Central University of Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.

The guest was formally welcomed by the Dean, SHSS, Prof. (Dr.) Preeti Tiwari.  The session highlighted the relevance and richness of traditional Indian knowledge, emphasizing its contributions to various disciplines such as economics, philosophy, governance, and sustainable development. Prof. Singh elaborated on how ancient Indian wisdom continues to provide valuable insights for addressing modern socio-economic challenges.

During the lecture, he discussed key aspects of Indian Knowledge Systems, including indigenous economic practices, ethical frameworks, and community-based resource management. He also encouraged students to integrate traditional knowledge with contemporary research approaches for holistic development.

The event witnessed active participation from students, research scholars, and faculty members, making it highly interactive and intellectually stimulating. Participants engaged in a thoughtful discussion and posed insightful questions, which were addressed comprehensively by the guest speaker.

The Department of Economics expressed its gratitude to Prof. Sanjeet Singh for sharing his expertise and inspiring the academic community. Such initiatives reflect the department’s commitment to promoting interdisciplinary learning and fostering a deeper understanding of India’s intellectual heritage. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Amarlata and Dr. Pooja Jain. All faculty members of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHHS) were present during the programme.
