Educational Visit Report

(UCOST-Uttarakhand State Council For Science and Technology)

The one day Educational visit was organized by Shri Guru Ram Rai University School Of Education Pathri Bagh campus D.dun on 13th February 2024 to visit UCOST, Vigyan Dham, Jhajra at Premnagar D.dun. The visit comprised 30 students of B.Ed- 1st year accompanied by four faculty members, Dr. Rekha Dhyani, Mrs. Rakhi Chauhan, Dr. Ritu Sinha and Dr. Priyanka Upadhyay from School of Education. The aim of the trip was to complement the theoretical knowledge gained in classrooms with practical experiences that will contribute to the holistic development of our B.Ed students. All the students were directed to gather at University campus at 10:00 A.M. We started our journey at 10:30 A.M and reached at 11:00 A.M at the location. As we entered the regional Science centre we were greeted by Mr. Om Prakash Rawat sir who gave us an overview regarding the whole Science centre and places to be explored. It Consist of Science gallery, Himalaya gallery, Frontiers of gallery, Innovation hub, 3D Theatre, Taramandal etc.

  • The students first had a view of the Science gallery. There were some Science exhibits regarding the planetary motion, energy ball, fly high, floating ball, Kaleidoscope, infinity well etc. Rawat sir explained all these things in proper way to each and every student. The Science Gallery caught their attention instantly. It was full of Hand on Exhibits explaining the fundamentals of science. The students participated in different quizzes, played games based on science and loved the mirror illusions
  • Than we all went to Taramandal where students gain knowledge about the constellation of stars and their shapes (i.e Mam explained stars shapes according to zodiac sign)
  • On Second floor we entered the THE HIMALAYAS gallery. There Pankaj Thapliyal sir explained whole things regarding Himalayas like Himalayan fossils, Lakes of the Himalayas, the origin inhabitants of the Himalayas, 10 highest mountain peaks of the Himalayas etc. It was really a valuable information for students.
  • At last we all went to Frontier of Technology gallery. There Nitin kapil sir guided the students and explained about Terrace farming, Genetically modified crops, MRI Scan, GPS System etc. So Students learn lot of information related to technology.

Interactive exhibits like Dinosaurs park, Whispering Garden, Gravity Chair, Sympathetic Swing, Birding Cage, Eco-tube and Perspective houses were the highlights at the Vigyan Dham. So in this way students had a fruitful interactive session with the members of Vigyan Dham and the students learned various things about the Science and Technology. Our visit ended about 2:15 PM and we reached University campus at 3:00 PM. The visit was informative and amazing for students.
