Dr. Prerna is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Yogic Science at Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun. She earned her Ph.D. in Yoga (2023) from Shri Guru Ram Rai University with First Division after completing her M.Sc. in Yoga Science (2018) from the University of Patanjali, Haridwar, and B.Sc. (Zoology, Botany & Geology) (2015) from D.B.S. (P.G.) College, Dehradun. She also qualified the UGC-NET in Yoga (2018).
Her teaching and research interests include Yoga Therapy, Pranayama, Meditation, Mental Health, Women’s Health, Sports Yoga, Adolescent Psychology, and Yoga Education. She is committed to integrating traditional yogic knowledge with modern scientific research to improve physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Dr. Prerna has an excellent publication record with more than 14 research papers published in reputed UGC CARE-listed, peer-reviewed, and indexed journals, covering topics such as pranayama, yoga therapy, self-confidence, meditation, sports performance, adolescent mental health, and women’s wellness. She has also published one book chapter titled Yoga as an Inhibitory Therapy for Increasing Self-Confidence in City’s Orphan Children under a CSIR publication.
She has made a significant contribution to innovation through a published Indian Design Patent titled Portable Yoga Posture Monitoring Device (Design No. 428394-001, 2024), reflecting her interest in combining yoga with modern technology for health monitoring.
Dr. Prerna has actively participated in national and international conferences, presenting research papers on yoga, holistic health, and post-COVID rehabilitation. She has also attended several faculty development programmes, orientation courses, short-term training programmes, and workshops, including the NEP-2020 Orientation & Sensitization Programme, Faculty Development Programme on Advanced Teaching-Learning Pedagogies, Guru Daksh Faculty Induction Programme, and specialized training in Applied Yoga and Stress Management.
Her academic excellence has been recognized through several prestigious honours, including the Yogratna Award (2023), presented on International Yoga Day by the National Yoga & Naturopathy Research Institute under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and the Rishi Agnivesh Award (2023) for contributions to environmental awareness and social development. She also received a Gold Certificate (Grade A) for successfully completing a one-month Social Internship Programme focused on environmental sustainability and community awareness.
Dr. Prerna strongly believes in the social application of yoga and actively participates in outreach programmes promoting holistic health, environmental awareness, and quality education. Her work emphasizes evidence-based yoga interventions for enhancing self-confidence, mental health, emotional resilience, and overall quality of life.
With a strong academic background, more than 14 publications, one book chapter, one published design patent, UGC-NET qualification, multiple national awards, and continuous professional development, Dr. Prerna continues to contribute significantly to teaching, research, innovation, and community service in the field of Yogic Science.
