Mission

Objectives of the Department

Political Science was established in 2017 under the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun. The department aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of political systems, governance, constitutional principles, public administration, political theories, and international relations. It encourages critical thinking, analytical skills, and informed engagement with contemporary political and social issues. Itseeks to prepare students for higher education, research, civil services, public administration, and other careers related to governance and public affairs.

History, under the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun, is committed to developing an understanding of the past and its relevance to the present. The department focuses on the study of historical events, civilizations, cultures, social transformations, and political developments in India and across the world. It encourages historical inquiry, critical analysis, research aptitude, and an appreciation of India's rich cultural heritage. It's aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills required for higher education, research, teaching, heritage studies, and other related professional fields.

English, under the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun, aims to promote the study of English language, literature, and literary criticism. It provides students with opportunities to explore diverse literary traditions, genres, authors, and cultural perspectives. It emphasizes effective communication, creative expression, critical thinking, analytical reading, and academic writing. Through the study of language and literature, the discipline seeks to develop students' intellectual abilities and prepare them for careers in teaching, research, publishing, content writing, communication, and other related fields.

Hindi, under the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun, is dedicated to promoting the study of Hindi language, literature, and cultural traditions. It encourages students to explore the development of Hindi literature, major literary movements, prominent writers, poetry, prose, and literary criticism. It seeks to strengthen linguistic proficiency, creative expression, critical understanding, and research skills while fostering an appreciation of India's literary and cultural heritage. It's aims to prepare students for higher education, research, teaching, writing, translation, journalism, and other language-related professional opportunities.

Music (Vocal and Tabla) promotes Indian classical music and traditional musical heritage through practical training, theoretical knowledge, and performance-based learning. It nurtures musical talent, creativity, and appreciation of India's rich cultural traditions.

The Garhwali  focuses on preserving and promoting the rich linguistic, literary, and cultural heritage of the Garhwal region. It encourages the study of Garhwali language, folk literature, traditions, and cultural expressions to strengthen regional identity and heritage.

Drawing and Painting fosters artistic creativity, visual expression, and aesthetic understanding. Through practical studio work and theoretical learning, it enables students to develop their artistic skills, explore diverse techniques, and appreciate traditional and contemporary art forms 

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is a four-year undergraduate programme designed to nurture artistic talent, creative thinking, and professional skills. The programme provides a foundation in visual arts, practical artistic training, and an understanding of art and culture, preparing students for opportunities in the creative industries and related professional fields.
