About the Department of Agronomy

The Department of Agronomy at the ICAR-Accredited School of Agricultural Sciences, Shri Guru Ram Rai University (SGRRU), Dehradun is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and extension education in the field of crop production and sustainable agriculture. The department aims to develop highly skilled agricultural professionals capable of addressing the challenges of food security, climate change, resource conservation, and sustainable farming systems.

Research Farm

The Department of Agronomy provides hands-on practical training through its well-maintained instructional and research farm. Students gain field experience by participating in demonstrations and experiments on cereals, pulses, oilseeds, millets, fodder crops, medicinal and aromatic plants, and diversified cropping systems. The farm enables learners to apply modern agronomic practices, including precision farming, irrigation, nutrient, and weed management. At our research farm this experiential learning approach equips students with the skills required for sustainable and climate-resilient crop production with following facilities and activities:
