Dr. Debasree Dhar is an accomplished historian and Assistant Professor specializing in industrial health, labour welfare, and the socio-economic history of modern India. She earned her Ph.D. in History from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD), where her doctoral research critically examined the intersections of capitalism, state welfare, and the lived experiences of working people in Indian coalfields. Dr. Dhar’s scholarship is distinguished by her expertise in archival research, oral history, and comparative labour studies, with a particular focus on occupational health, compensation law, and the dynamics of worker well-being. Her research has been published in leading international journals, including Journal of Industrial Relations, Labor History, and The Extractive Industries and Society, and she has been recognized for her peer-reviewed contributions to the field. Dr. Dhar has presented her work at major national and international conferences, addressing themes of insecurity, entitlement, and the evolution of health and welfare regimes in India’s extractive industries. With extensive teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, she is committed to fostering critical thinking, interdisciplinary research, and inclusive pedagogy. Dr. Dhar continues to advance scholarship and advocacy in the areas of labour rights, industrial health, and social justice in contemporary India.
