Competitions Organised at Shri Guru Ram Rai University on Hindi Diwas

The Department of Humanities and Liberal Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, organised various competitions on Monday to mark Hindi Diwas (Hindi Day). The primary objective of the programme was to develop students’ interest in the Hindi language and literature. Storytelling, poetry recitation, and speech competitions were organised during the event.

On the occasion, Dean Prof. (Dr.) Preeti Tiwari extended her greetings to the students on Hindi Diwas. At the beginning of the programme, Coordinator Dr. Kalpana Thapliyal presented the event’s outline and briefed the participants about the objectives of Hindi Diwas and the various competitions. She stated that Hindi is not merely a means of communication but also an integral part of our rich culture, traditions, and emotional identity.

During the poetry recitation competition, students presented their poems on topics such as “The Young Generation and the Future of Hindi,” “The Rich Tradition of Hindi Literature,” and “Challenges Facing Hindi.” Through their compositions, the participants effectively expressed the current status of the Hindi language, its literary heritage, and its future prospects. Netra Thapliyal secured first place, Avni Garg stood second, and Harshit Singh secured third place in the competition.

In the storytelling competition, students showcased their creative talent by presenting stories based on themes such as Indian culture, hill civilisation, and women’s empowerment. Their imagination, narrative style, and effective expression captured everyone’s attention. Shivika Lakhera secured first place, Sidra Fatima stood second, and Sawan Maurya secured third place.

As part of the programme, the speech competition provided students with an opportunity to express their views on topics including “The Present and Future of the Hindi Language,” “The Pride of One’s Mother Tongue,” and “Indian Culture and the Hindi Language.” Poonam secured first place, Alok Kumar stood second, and Purnima Bansal secured third place. Through their speeches, the students highlighted the importance of Hindi and its deep connection with Indian culture.

Addressing the students on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Geeta Rawat said that Hindi is a language deeply connected with our culture, emotions, and identity. In today’s digital and globalised era, the possibilities for the use and promotion of Hindi have expanded considerably. She also encouraged the students to continuously develop their creative talents and remain connected with the Hindi language and literature.

All faculty members were present on the occasion and encouraged the participating students.
