Shri Guru Ram Rai University came alive on Sunday evening with the vibrant celebration of Navrang Dandiya 3.0, where chants of Maa Durga and a devotional atmosphere set the tone for the event. The evening was filled with dazzling Garba and Dandiya performances, soulful Pahadi Mandaan folk tunes, and the aroma of festive delicacies ranging from Bengali and Gujarati cuisine to traditional Pahadi dishes.

Students offered devotional performances in praise of the various forms of Goddess Durga on the auspicious occasion of Sharadiya Navratri. Both students and faculty immersed themselves in Garba and Dandiya dances, making the event a lively cultural celebration. On the occasion, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, President of SGRR University, extended his heartfelt greetings of Sharadiya Navratri to the people of Uttarakhand and the nation.

The grand evening commenced at the SGRR University helipad ground with Puja, Aarti, and the sound of conch shells. The formal inauguration was done with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Prof. (Dr.) Prathapan K. Pillai, Advisor to the Hon’ble President of SGRR University; Dr. Lokesh Gambhir, Registrar; Dr. Malvika Sati Kandpal, Program Convener; and Dr. R.P. Singh, Coordinator.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Prathapan K. Pillai said that festivals like Navrang Dandiya are a living example of unity in diversity. He emphasized that such cultural events instill energy, enthusiasm, and a spirit of social bonding among students. He expressed hope that the celebration would not only connect students with Indian traditions and values but also teach them the importance of collective harmony and cooperation.

The stage came alive with Dhunuchi Dance, a traditional Bengali devotional performance associated with Durga Puja, followed by energetic Garba and Dandiya dances that lit up the atmosphere. High-voltage DJ beats kept both faculty members and students dancing with unmatched zeal. The fusion of traditional Dandiya songs with modern rhythms kept the audience engaged late into the night. The event was anchored skillfully by Shubham.

Adding to the festive delight, authentic Bengali, Gujarati, Navratri, and Pahadi delicacies were served, becoming a major attraction of the evening. Dressed in a mix of traditional and contemporary attire, students showcased their vibrant cultural spirit, with thunderous applause resounding across the ground.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of thousands of students, faculty members, and dignitaries, including Dr. R.P. Singh, University Coordinator; Dr. Malvika Kandpal, Chairperson of Navrang Dandiya; Dr. Arun Kumar; Dr. Priya Pandey; Isha Sharma; Dr. Ganarajan; and Dr. Manish Sharma, along with deans and heads of departments from all schools of the university.
