On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, 02 October 2026, the National Service Scheme (NSS), Shri Guru Ram Rai University (SGRRU), Dehradun, organized a Cleanliness Drive at both the Patel Nagar Campus and Pathri Bagh Campus of the University. The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting cleanliness, environmental responsibility, civic sense, and community participation among students and members of the University fraternity. The cleanliness (Under the Campaign Swachhata Hi Seva) drive was organized in the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi's and Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji vision of cleanliness and social responsibility, encouraging students to contribute actively towards maintaining a clean, healthy, and sustainable campus environment. The gathering of NSS volunteers, students, faculty members, officers, and staff was first motivated and sensitized towards the importance of cleanliness, personal responsibility, and environmental sustainability.

The participants were encouraged to actively contribute towards maintaining a clean and healthy campus and to carry the message of cleanliness into the wider community. The Cleanliness Drive was formally inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Sonika Kandari, Registrar, Shri Guru Ram Rai University (SGRRU). She motivated the participants to make cleanliness an integral part of their daily lives and emphasized that maintaining a clean environment is a collective responsibility. Her address encouraged the NSS volunteers and students to participate enthusiastically in the cleanliness activities. Following the inaugural address, the NSS volunteers, students, faculty members, and staff proceeded to their respective designated areas at the Patel Nagar and Pathri Bagh Campuses and actively participated in the cleanliness drive.
