World Nutrition Day 2026, observed on 27th May, focuses on the theme “Shaping the Future of Joint Nutrition Action in a Changing World” emphasizes cross sector collaboration and coordinated policies to tackle malnutrition and escalating food costs globally. It’s aiming to highlight the importance of balanced diets, nutritional awareness, and combating malnutrition globally. To mark this occasion, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing, SGRRIM&HS College of Nursing, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun organized a nutritional meal on postnatal diet on 27th May 2026 under the leadership of Dr. G Ramalakshmi, Dean SGRRIM&HS College of Nursing and guidance of Dr. Dineshwori Chanu Paonam, HOD, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing, SGRRIM&HS College of Nursing. This practical learning sessions to help students and the public build healthy, sustainable eating habits and benchmark the nutritional care they offer patients.
A nutritional meal distribution session on postnatal diet in hospital was organised by faculty and student of ANM 2nd year by providing balanced, safe and therapeutic meals to postnatal mothers at OBS II Ward according to their nutritional requirements and diet orders. Proper meal distribution plays an important role in promoting recovery, maintaining health, preventing complications, and improving patient satisfaction. This practical learning motivated the faculties and students to actively participate that promote the patient’s well-being.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 2nd year ANM students and faculty members of OBG Department of College of Nursing. Students actively contributed to all activities, awareness, and social responsibility.
The celebration successfully increased awareness among patients about healthy eating habits, increased patient energy and strength, enhanced recovery and healing process and ensuring that health decisions are informed and coordinated for a healthier future.
World Nutrition Day play an important role in educating people about the value of healthy nutrition and motivating communities to adopt healthier lifestyles for a disease free and productive life.
