The School of Allied & HealthCare Sciences (SAHCS), Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun, organized a Blood Donation Camp on 09.05.2026 at its college premises in collaboration with Sri Mahant Indiresh Hospital. The camp was organized with the objective of promoting voluntary blood donation and creating awareness among students and staff about the importance of blood donation in saving lives.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and staff. The event began with an awareness session highlighting the importance of voluntary blood donation, eligibility criteria, health benefits, and the role of regular blood donation in supporting patients during emergencies, surgeries, accidents, and other medical conditions.
A team of qualified healthcare professionals conducted the complete donation process. Donors underwent preliminary health screening, including assessment of haemoglobin, blood pressure, pulse rate, and other necessary parameters, to ensure their eligibility and safety. The blood collection was carried out following appropriate medical and hygienic protocols.
The active participation of students provided them with valuable exposure to community healthcare practices and encouraged them to develop a sense of social responsibility, compassion, teamwork, and community service. Faculty members and staff also contributed actively to the successful conduct of the camp.
A total of 57 units of blood were collected during the camp. Refreshments were provided to the donors after donation, and certificates/appreciation tokens were given to acknowledge their valuable contribution.
The camp successfully created awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation and motivated the university community to contribute towards this noble cause. It also reinforced the message that one blood donation can make a significant difference and help save lives.
The Blood Donation Camp was successfully conducted with active participation and cooperation from students, faculty, staff, and the medical team. The initiative reflected the commitment of SPAHS and Shri Guru Ram Rai University towards community welfare and healthcare service. The programme was a meaningful step towards promoting a culture of voluntary blood donation and social responsibility among the university community.
