Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) 2026 activities under the theme “NEP: Education to Viksit Bharat,” the College of Education, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun, organized an activity on Bhartiya Bhasha and Indian Knowledge System on 25 August 2026. The activity focused on the topic “Discuss the Role of Bhartiya Bhasha in Disseminating Information in the Indian Knowledge System.”
The programme aimed to create awareness among student teachers about the rich linguistic and intellectual heritage of India and to provide them with an opportunity to reflect upon the important role played by Indian languages in preserving, transmitting, and disseminating knowledge across generations. The activity also encouraged students to understand the relevance of Bhartiya Bhashas in contemporary education and in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat.
The activity was organized with the following objectives:
The programme commenced with the welcome and introduction of the topic. Dean Prof. Malvika Sati Kandpal, addressed and encouraged the students for participating. Other faculty members Prof Balbir Kaur, Prof Anand Kumar, Dr Rekha Dhyani, Dr Ritu Sinha, Dr Priyanka Upadhyay &Mrs Rakhi Chauhan were also present.
The activity witnessed active participation of B.Ed. First Year students. Ten students participated in the presentation activity: Sakshar, Madhur, Chandra Priyam, Alok, Angel, Khushi, Priyanka, Sakshi Anshu, Yuvika.
Each participant was given a maximum of three minutes to present their views on the given topic. Students were also permitted to use PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs) to support their presentations
The students highlighted the contribution of Indian languages in preserving India’s diverse knowledge traditions, including literature, philosophy, science, mathematics, medicine, art, culture, and social thought. They discussed how knowledge was traditionally transmitted from one generation to another through languages, oral traditions, manuscripts, literature, scriptures, folk traditions, and educational practices.
The presentations also emphasized that Indian languages serve not merely as means of communication but also as important carriers of cultural identity, values, traditions, and indigenous knowledge. The students reflected upon the need to promote and integrate Bhartiya Bhashas into education so that India’s rich knowledge heritage can be preserved and made accessible to future generations.
The activity provided students with an opportunity to express their ideas independently and strengthened their confidence, communication skills, critical thinking, and presentation abilities.
The programme was effectively anchored by Ruchika B.Ed. II year student, who coordinated the proceedings and maintained the sequence of presentations.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Tuba B.Ed. II year student, who expressed gratitude to the Dean, faculty members, coordinator, and all participating students for their valuable contribution and support in making the activity successful.
The activity was successful in creating awareness among the students about the significance of Bhartiya Bhasha and the Indian Knowledge System. It encouraged students to appreciate India's linguistic diversity and understand the important role of language in preserving, transmitting, and disseminating knowledge.
The programme also provided a meaningful platform for student teachers to connect the principles of NEP 2020 with India's cultural and knowledge traditions. The presentations encouraged students to think about the relevance of Indian languages in contemporary education and their contribution towards strengthening cultural rootedness and the broader vision of Viksit Bharat.
The activity on “Bhartiya Bhasha and Indian Knowledge System” was an enriching and meaningful academic experience. The active participation of the B.Ed. First Year students and the presence and guidance of all faculty members contributed significantly to the success of the programme.
The programme successfully sensitized students towards the importance of Indian languages as powerful mediums for preserving, transmitting, and disseminating India's rich knowledge heritage. It also reinforced the need to promote linguistic diversity and Indian knowledge traditions in education, in keeping with the vision of NEP 2020 and Education to Viksit Bharat.
