The School of Basic & Applied Sciences (SBAS), a constituent school of SGRR University, was established under the Uttarakhand Act No. 03 of 2017 with the objective of imparting value-based, multidisciplinary, and holistic education of the highest standards. The SBAS promotes excellence in scientific education, research, and innovation across a broad spectrum of disciplines, offering B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. programmes in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Geology, and Forensic Science.
SBAS academic philosophy is rooted in inquiry-based learning, experimental rigour, and critical thinking, key hallmarks of science education at leading global universities. By integrating strong theoretical foundations with modern laboratory training, field studies, and research-oriented projects, SBAS ensures the development of both conceptual clarity and practical competence among students. Well-equipped laboratories and continuously advancing research facilities support hands-on experimentation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovation-driven investigations using contemporary scientific tools and methodologies.
Highly experienced and research-active faculty members provide close mentorship through coursework, laboratory supervision, dissertation guidance, and scholarly publications, fostering a culture of academic integrity, curiosity, and continuous learning. The school further encourages active participation in seminars, workshops, conferences, and faculty development programmes, promoting meaningful engagement with national and international scientific communities and preparing students to address complex, interdisciplinary scientific challenges.
With a balanced emphasis on education, research, and skill development, SBAS prepares graduates for diverse career pathways in academia, research institutions, industry, government services, and entrepreneurship.
