On, April 25th, 2025 — World Malaria Day was marked with great zest at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPS) to raise awareness about the prevention and control of mosquito-borne diseases. The event aimed to highlight the importance of proactive measures in curbing the spread of malaria, which continues to be a significant public health challenge in many parts of the world.
As part of the awareness drive, an interactive and insightful lecture was delivered by Dr. Kanishk Kala, Assistant Professor Department of Pharmacy Practice. He emphasized the importance of early detection, preventive care, and community participation in eradicating malaria as per WHO statistics. Students and faculty actively participated in the session, gaining valuable knowledge on disease transmission and control strategies.
To reinforce on-ground action, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Registrar Office took the initiative to conduct fogging operations across various SGRR University . This step aimed to control mosquito breeding and reduce the risk of infection within the institution's premises.

These natural repellents were developed by students and faculty using medicinal plant extracts known for their insect-repelling properties. The sprays were gifted to University officials as a part of the awareness campaign, promoting sustainable alternatives to chemical repellents. Hon’ble VC, Prof. Kumud Saklani congratulated team from School of Pharmacy for this thoughtful initiative.
The event underscored SPS's commitment to health education, innovation, and community well-being, aligning with the global efforts to eliminate malaria.
