The annual observation of World Kidney Day, which took place on 12 March 2026, is a global initiative to raise awareness and encourage in the treatment of illness. Every year, millions of people die from renal disease, which is the leading cause of death globally. One of the most crucial elements of fighting against kidney that can help save lives, knows everything about the disease, how to prevent it, what are the preventions and how to diagnose it. As a result, the entire globe observes World Kidney Day as a means to attain this. The theme of 2026 is “Kidney Health for All – Caring for People, Protecting the Planet”.
On World Kidney Day, Department of Nephrology SGRRIM&HS Dehradun hosted the events to raise awareness begins with the riveting rally and skit, ( role play) at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital performed by B. Sc. Nursing students with the surveillance by faculty. Additionally, they displayed educational posters, pamphlets encouraging patients and their families to take up fight against the kidney disease.
The program was started by lamp lighting and then invocation held, after that Dr.Anil Malik& Dr. Utkarsh Sharma stressed the importance of March 12th as World Kidney Day, a worldwide call to action designed to raise awareness and encourage preventative actions against the illness.
Dr. Alok Kumar & Dr. Vivek Rohilla underlined that early diagnosis techniques and preventive strategies are crucial in halting the unrelenting development of Nephrology. "kidney disease is not merely a diagnosis; it's a battle that demands unity, awareness, and action," the doctor said.
The students of SGRR Nursing College are bringing about a new chapter in the battle against Kidney disease by the rally and skit to inspiring hope and resilience in communities all over the world with their unwavering will and shared commitment to public health. Their efforts provide direction, showing the way toward a time when Kidney disease is not feared but rather defeated by teamwork and unflinching support.
Principal Nursing College, Dr. G. Ramalakshmi, Dr.Vivek Vijan , Urology team, Medicine department, Nephrology department, Paediatric department and staff of hospital were involved to motivate the clients and their relatives and students,
Prof. Dr. Ponmari. K, Ms.Komal, Mr. Ankit, Ms. Kanchan, Medical Surgical Nursing department of SGRRUCON, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, Faculty guided to the students in whole event to raise awareness of Kidney Disease and encourage prevention and early diagnosis.
The nursing students were involved in poster compition, skit and also explained to the public by Rally.
A total of 50 patients visited in the auditorium and 25 students of GNM, 10 MSC nursing students & 5 faculty participated in the rally and they identified the program as effective and motivating.
Observing World Kidney Day to Honor Heroes
On March 12th, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital resisted the disease of Kidney Disease! With a stirring role play and educational posters, our Nursing College students took the stage to raise awareness to the community.
