Introduction

The Teaching Plan Competition - Phase 2 was conducted under the Teachable Program by Sterlite EdIndia Foundation for PSTs shortlisted from six B.Ed. colleges in Uttarakhand. As per the Phase 1 results submitted earlier, four PSTs from S University (School of Education) qualified for the final round.

Phase 2 consisted of two components: preparation of a three-day lesson plan on an allotted topic and a live classroom demonstration at a government school. This final phase aimed to evaluate PSTs’ pedagogical depth, planning, classroom execution, and student engagement in real teaching situations.

All four PSTs prepared a detailed three-day lesson plan based on the topic assigned in their chosen subject.

Lesson Plan Evaluation (External Assessment)

  • The 3-day lesson plans were evaluated by external evaluators nominated by EdIndia Foundation.
  • The evaluation focused on:
    • Objectives of lesson
    • Lesson Introduction (linking with previous knowledge / activity)
    • Use of TLM (Teaching-Learning Materials)
    • Activities (interactive, age-appropriate, lesson-appropriate)
    • Recapitulation of the Topic
    • C.W./H.W. Question Quality (as per Bloom’s levels)

Demonstration Round

The classroom demonstration took place at Government Junior High School, Chironwali, Kandoli–Dehradun.

  • Each PST demonstrated one lesson from their 3-day plan.
  • Each demonstration was observed by two external evaluators.
  • Evaluation parameters included:
    • Student engagement
    • Concept clarity
    • Classroom management
    • Activity execution
    • Use of TLMs and real-life examples
    • Assessment during teaching

Final scores were calculated from the combined average of:

  • Lesson Plan Evaluation
  • Live Demonstration Evaluation

The top three PSTs among all participating B.Ed. colleges were selected based on these final scores.

Achievement

The PSTs from SGRR University performed confidently in the final round.

🏅 Kailash Gaur secured 2nd Rank among all participating B.Ed. colleges.

His teaching was appreciated for its structure, meaningful activities, confident delivery, and effective interaction with students.

Prize Distribution Ceremony

A formal Prize Distribution Ceremony was organized at SCERT Dehradun in the presence of the Director, SCERT, officials from EdIndia Foundation, and faculty from participating colleges.

Awards were presented to the top-performing PSTs, recognizing their excellence in planning and classroom practice.

Conclusion

The Teaching Plan Competition (Phase 2) gave PSTs a valuable real-classroom exposure and strengthened their readiness to teach in upper-primary classrooms.

The performance of students from SGRR University (School of Education)-particularly Kailash Gaur’s achievement of securing 2nd rank at the state level among B.Ed. colleges-demonstrates strong pedagogical preparation and commitment to quality teacher training.
