The Department of Physiotherapy at Shri Mahant Indresh Hospital celebrated World Physiotherapy Day on 8th September 2025 with great enthusiasm and participation from students and faculty members. The day was filled with vibrant events, performances, and creative showcases highlighting the importance of physiotherapy in promoting health and wellness.
The celebration commenced at 10:00 AM in the Healing Garden with a powerful Nukad Natak - a street play performed by students to raise awareness about the vital role of physiotherapy in rehabilitation and improving quality of life. Alongside, a Poster Competition was organized where students presented creative and informative posters on the theme of physiotherapy, reflecting their understanding, innovation, and dedication towards the profession.
At 11:00 AM, the formal program began in the SMIH Auditorium with the Welcome Ceremony. The guests were warmly received, followed by a welcome address and a brief introduction to the significance of the event. The atmosphere turned devotional with a melodious Ganesh Vandana, leading into the Lamp Lighting Ceremony—a traditional act symbolizing the light of knowledge and wisdom—accompanied by Saraswati Vandana sung by the students.
Following this, at 11:30 AM, the dignitaries and special guests were honored during the Felicitation Ceremony, where tokens of appreciation were presented as a gesture of gratitude. The celebration then continued with a joyful Cake Cutting Ceremony at 11:45 AM, marking the spirit of World Physiotherapy Day.
The cultural segment began at 12:00 PM, featuring a series of energetic and captivating performances. The audience enjoyed the Naati Dance representing Himachali culture, the traditional Garhwali Dance, a heartfelt Sufi Act, and a thought-provoking Skit centered around physiotherapy and patient care.
Post lunch, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM, the stage came alive again with lively Dance and Music Performances, including Solo Dance, Singing Duet, Solo Bollywood Dance, and a grand Bollywood Group Dance that filled the hall with rhythm and cheer.
The event concluded at 3:00 PM with the Prize Distribution Ceremony for the Poster Competition winners, recognizing their creativity and efforts. The program came to a graceful close with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the management, guests, participants, and organizers for making the event a memorable success.
The celebration of World Physiotherapy Day at SMIH not only showcased the talent and enthusiasm of the students but also emphasized the growing significance of physiotherapy in preventive and rehabilitative healthcare. It was truly a day of learning, creativity, and joy - honoring the spirit and contribution of physiotherapists to the society.
