Organization of Research Conclave 2025 at SGRRU: A Celebration of Innovation and Sustainable Development
Students Presented Research Papers on Science and Social Discourse
Startup, Entrepreneurship, and Environmental Development Were the Main Agendas
Dehradun: The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Shri Guru Ram Rai University (SGRRU) successfully organized the “Research Conclave 2025”. The theme of the conclave was “Viksit Bharat – Research and Innovation for Sustainable Development.” The two-day conference, held from 19th to 20th September, was jointly organized by the Departments of History and Home Science.
The conference took place at the university’s Pathribagh campus auditorium, where research scholars, faculty members, and participants from various schools of the university presented their research and ideas on innovation and sustainable development.
On this occasion, the President of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Shri Mahant Devendra Dass Ji Maharaj, extended his best wishes to the organizers of the Research Conclave hosted by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The conclave was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Kumud Saklani, Chief Guest and Chairperson of the inaugural session, Prof. (Dr.) Surekha Dangwal, Vice Chancellor of Doon University; Director of the Innovation and Incubation Centre, Prof. (Dr.) D.P. Maithani; Dean Prof. (Dr.) Preeti Tiwari; and Conclave Convener Dr. Sunil Kishtwal, Head of the Department of History, by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Addressing the students and researchers at the inauguration of the Research Conclave 2025, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Kumud Saklani said that the continuous exchange of information and knowledge has greatly increased in today’s era. Along with this, exploring new opportunities in entrepreneurship has also become essential. She emphasized that by incorporating water conservation and management into our lifestyle, we can protect the environment. She also highlighted that during disasters in Uttarakhand, the university extended all possible assistance to the affected people, reflecting the university’s sense of social responsibility.
Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Surekha Dangwal, Vice Chancellor of Doon University, stated that the National Education Policy (NEP) provides better opportunities to students in making India self-reliant. She said that the NEP is not only a means of acquiring education but also prepares students to face future global challenges. To achieve the shared vision of making India a leading global power by 2047, institutional collaboration is essential so that the power of knowledge and innovation can move forward collectively. She also stressed the importance of sustainable development and the preservation of cultural heritage, and urged the youth to promote regional languages and contribute to making India a “Vishwa Guru” through academic excellence and innovation.
On this occasion, Prof. (Dr.) D.P. Maithani discussed aspects of Make in India, entrepreneurship development, and innovation startups with students and researchers through the lens of research. He emphasized the importance of applied and practical research.
The conclave also featured discussions on key themes such as Green Energy and Sustainable Infrastructure, Women Empowerment and Social Equality, Water Conservation and Management, Climate and Environmental Protection, Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism, and Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security.
During the event, various competitions were held, including research paper presentations, poster displays, and exhibitions by students and research scholars.
Conclave Convener Dr. Sunil Kishtwal shared that topic-based research presentations and exhibitions were organized by the students, and the winners would be awarded at the valedictory session of the conclave.
Participants presented their innovative ideas and research findings, which were appreciated by the experts and audience present.
The organizing committee included Prof. (Dr.) Preeti Tiwari (Dean, SHSS) as Advisor, Dr. Sunil Kishtwal as Convener, Dr. Devashree Dhar as Co-convener, and Dr. Lata Sati and Dr. Monika Sharma as Joint Conveners. Dr. Vinod Kumar Pant and Manoj Prakash Jaguri served as Treasurers.
Deans, Heads of Departments, and hundreds of students from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and other university schools participated enthusiastically in the conclave.
The two-day “Research Conclave 2025” organized by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences concluded with research paper presentations focused on the efforts required for Viksit Bharat 2047. On the second day, the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Ranjana Rawat, Head, Department of History, DAV PG College, Dehradun, emphasized that disasters have far-reaching impacts. She added that due to industrialization, the balance of nature is being disturbed, and therefore, students must engage in discussions on environmental conservation.
The Keynote Speaker, Dr. Devendra Bhasin, Vice President, State Higher Education Upgradation Committee, Government of Uttarakhand, highlighted that the National Education Policy prioritizes skill-based education today. He stressed that research and innovation are the need of the nation.
Delivering a special lecture, Dr. K.S.N. Parimal Kumar, Regional Manager, Gonda District, Carbon Farmers Connect Project, People’s Action for National Integration, presented an insightful talk on environmental issues arising from climate change and carbon emissions.
The Conclave also witnessed participation from Dhirendra Sharma, Archaeologist and Former Vice Chancellor, International Roma Culture University, Delhi, and Dr. Param Kumar, IIT Madras.
