The five-day International Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Research and Industry Interface: Innovation to Application” was successfully organized with active participation from faculty members, researchers, and academicians across diverse disciplines. The programme served as a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange, promoting academic–industry collaboration, translational research, and innovation-driven learning.
The FDP commenced with the blessings and encouragement of Prof. K. Prathapan Pillai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SGRRU, whose message reflected strong institutional support for faculty development initiatives. Dr. Lokesh Ghambir, Registrar, SGRRU, further emphasized the importance of continuous professional development in enhancing academic quality and institutional growth.
Throughout the programme, eminent national and international experts delivered insightful sessions focusing on research translation, industrial innovation, and strategic academic advancement. Key themes included research–industry partnerships, intellectual property management, proposal writing, commercialization pathways, technology readiness levels, innovation ecosystems, and funding strategies. Experts presented practical case studies demonstrating how academic research can be transformed into industrially viable technologies, covering areas such as hydrogen technologies, data-driven research tools, quantum material characterization, and translational materials research.
Day 1 featured Dr. Sumrita Bhat and Dr. Raman Koul (Colnis Global, Canada), who highlighted innovation ecosystems and translational pathways, presenting the NanoCement case as a successful academia-to-industry model. On Day 2, Dr. M. Vasudeva Reddy (Yeungnam University, South Korea) discussed advanced research tools, data analysis, and hydrogen technologies. Day 3 included Mr. Sayan Sen’s session on global innovation models, intellectual property, and technology transfer for sustainable economic growth, while Dr. Anuj Kumar (Technology Innovation Institute, Abu Dhabi, UAE) provided guidance on strategic proposal writing for fundable translational projects. On Day 4, Dr. Aga Shahee (University of Kashmir) addressed advanced techniques in quantum materials and spintronic devices. The programme concluded on Day 5 with Dr. Pradyut Sengupta (CSIR–IMMT) presenting translational research case studies, and Mr. Mohammad Faisal (Technology Innovation Institute) emphasizing impact-driven, industry-aligned research design.
Overall, the FDP successfully fostered interdisciplinary learning, innovation-oriented thinking, and strategic research planning. Participants gained valuable insights into bridging academia and industry, designing socially relevant and fundable research, and promoting sustainable, real-world innovation, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and impactful research.
