Introduction

On the occasion of World TB Day 2026, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, SGRRIM & HS, College of Nursing organized a health awareness program to highlight the importance of tuberculosis prevention and control. The event was conducted under the global theme: “Yes! We Can End TB – Commit, Invest, Deliver.”

Objectives of the Program

  • To create awareness regarding tuberculosis and its prevention 
  • To educate students about early diagnosis and treatment adherence 
  • To promote community participation in TB elimination 
  • To enhance students’ knowledge through interactive learning methods

Ms. Priyanka Kumari – Alumni Guest, Post Basic B.Sc Nursing (2021-2023 batch)

Description of the Program

The program commenced with a welcome address by the faculty, followed by an insightful session by the alumni guest, Ms. Priyanka Kumari. She shared her clinical experiences in managing TB patients and emphasized the importance of adherence to treatment protocols and patient counseling.

An awareness talk was conducted highlighting:

  • Causes and transmission of TB 
  • Signs and symptoms 
  • Diagnostic procedures 
  • Treatment strategies including DOTS 
  • Government initiatives for TB control 

Quiz Competition

A quiz competition was organized as part of the program to assess and enhance students’ knowledge regarding tuberculosis.

Key Areas Covered:

  • Epidemiology of TB 
  • Prevention and control measures 
  • National TB programs 
  • Clinical management 
  • Recent advanced drug treatment 

Students participated enthusiastically, demonstrating excellent knowledge and teamwork. The competition created an interactive learning environment and encouraged active participation.

The quiz was judged by the esteemed panel, and winners were awarded certificates of appreciation.

They also served as judges for the quiz competition.
